Health Testing

We strongly believe your pet should be around a long time and we will do everything in our power to make that happen!

At Cuddlydoods, we believe in total transparency regarding the health and genetics of our Goldendoodles and Aussiedoodles. A common topic in modern breeding is the CDDY (Chondrodystrophy) marker. It is vital for our families to understand that CDDY is a risk allele, meaning it indicates a potential increase in the risk of IVDD; it is not a diagnosis of the disease itself.

In fact, the actual occurrence of IVDD in Goldendoodles and Aussiedoodles remains extremely low. Because CDDY is an associated risk factor rather than a certainty, removing every dog with this marker would drastically—and dangerously—shrink our genetic pool. As a dedicated breeder, my goal is to prioritize the overall health, temperament, and longevity of our lines. I am committed to responsibly and gradually breeding out the CDDY mutation over future generations out of an abundance of caution, rather than immediate necessity. We focus on the 'whole dog,' ensuring your puppy is as healthy and robust as possible.

Our dogs have all had their genetic testing done. We do this in order to make sure our lines aren't affected with potentially preventable diseases. Each one has had at least 210 genetic diseases tested for. Here is a list of the minimum genetic testing each parent dog has had:

 OSTEOGENESIS IMPERFECTA

Progressive Retinal Atrophy - rcd4

Generalized PRA 1 and 2

Progressive Rod Code Degeneration - PRA

Degenerative Myelopathy

Muscular Dystrophy X-linked (MDX)

Neontal Encephalopathy

Von Willebrand's Disease Type I

Every parent dog has either had Wisdom Panel premium genetic screening panel done to ensure puppies aren't affected or carriers of anything.

We also test the possible colors in our lines to minimize unwanted colors and maximize desired traits and colors.

Spotting Locus (W Gene)

A-Locus Agouti

B (Brown) Locus

D (Dilute) Locus

K-Locus EM-Locus

Melanistic Mask Allele (Em),

E-Locus E-Locus (yellow, red, cream and apricot)

All parent dogs have had OFA heart, eye, and hips tested.
